Little Caesars 15u AAA program continues to be the number 1 team in the country. Their recent trip to the east coast left a lasting impression on scouts as they went 4-0 defeating highly ranked Long Island Gulls, Mid-Fairfield and Boston Junior Eagles. This team is a must watch this year as they feature 10-15 prospects that will be in contention for the National Development Team and will be high Major Junior picks. All Eyes on State College
#1 Michigan (7-1-0) traveled to Pegula Ice Center to take on undefeated #13 Penn State this weekend in a 2 game series. Penn State's 8-0-0 record has been criticized for the lack of competition the Nittany Lions have faced thus far, but proved the haters wrong with a 3-0 shutout victory on Friday night.
Penn State has been carried by Senior forward Kevin Wall. Wall a 6th round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2019 NHL draft, has recorded 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 games this year. Junior goaltender Liam Souliere has improved tremendously this season for the Nittany Lions as he is posting a 94.5 save percentage in 6 starts. If Penn State is to have success Souliere will have to be at the top of his game as Michigan's offense is number 1 in the country averaging 5.25 goals a game.
Michigan has shown the ability to put up points quickly as their transition game is hard to contain. With a roster filled with NHL talent, its freshman ‘04 Forward Adam Fantilli leading the team with 15 points in 8 games and is the conversation as a top prospect for the upcoming NHL draft. Unlike Penn State who only features 2 NHL draft picks, Michigan has 12 NHL Draft picks to show off on a nightly basis.
With Penn State taking Game 1, Saturday’s tilt will be a must watch.
