Tier 3 Junior Hockey News & Top Performers
NA3HL
In the east Division there seems to be some competition for the Northeast Generals. Both the New Jersey Titans (7-1) and Norwich Sea Captains (4-0-1) have raced out to fast starts. Over the weekend, the New Jersey Titans hosted the Sea Captains in two highly contested matchup's where the Sea Captains took 3 of 4 points from the Titans. Norwich hosts the Generals on Oct 7, which will be a good early season gauge for the Sea Captains.
In the Frontier division the Bozeman Ice Dogs and Helena Big Horns are both sitting at 6-0. What is more impressive is the fact that the teams combine for 8 of the top 10 scorers in the NA3HL. Bozeman's forwards Bodie Shepardson (17 points) and Chris Porciuncula (17 points) are tied for the league lead in points.
Down south the Texas Roadrunners are sitting at 7-0 after beating up on the Austin Ice Bats for four games. The Roadrunners appear to be a deep team that can make a run at the south division and they will be tested through October as they play El Paso 3 times and Atlanta 3 times.
Wisconsin’s Hunter Nelson is averaging a goal per game through 6 games (6G 2A), tying his 2022-2023 total through 31 games with New Ulm and Mason City.
EHL
The rumor going around the rinks is the EHL has lost some of its top talent. Which may be true to a certain extent, but this is still a very deep league with really good collegiate prospects across everyone's rosters. Every team in the league has won at least one game with the exception of the Bridgewater Bandits. The expansion teams have done well for themselves early on showing they belong in the league.
Leading the charge in the South Division are a pair of expansion teams as the New Jersey Bears and Pennsylvania Huntsman who both sit up top the standings with 12 points each.
The Express Hockey Club remain as the only undefeated team in the league at 4-0. The 4-0 start is helped by an offensive attack that is averaging 5.5 goals per game. 03' Forward Daniel Belov has proven to be a legit scorer as he has netted 5 goals in 3 games for the Express
Entering Wednesday, Boston’s Denis Valenta (7GP 8G 5A) and Vermont’s Trent King (8GP 1G 12A) lead league in points.
Perfect 4 - Express Hockey Club, New York AppleCare, Boston Jr Rangers and Railers Jr Hockey Club all 3-0 at recent Worcester Showcase.
Premier
The Southeast division is proving to be toughest division again in the USPHL Premier. The Charlotte Rush have raced out to a 6-0 start while the Potomac Patriots only losses were to a good Islanders Hockey Club and division rival Jr. Hurricanes in overtime.
At the Boston Junior Bruins showcase, the Northeast Division looked good as a whole going 12-11 on the weekend. Highlighting the weekend for the Northeast Division was the Islander Hockey Club overtime win over the Potomac Patriots and the Jr. Utica Comets 4-0 record.
Nashville’s ‘04 Gus Immune, and ‘03 Khyle Flynn, as well as Potomac’s ‘05 Simian Marshchanok and Ontario’s ‘03 Laedin Larocque-Wolfe all averaging at least a goal per game.
