The USNTDP won their first game of the USHL season coming back from a 3-1 deficit entering the 3rd period. After scoring 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd, the USNTDP took their first lead of the night, which was short lived as Michael Barron would tie the game for the Saints minutes later. Barron would be involved once again as he finished off a perfect passing play on a 3 on 2 with Vaisanen and Colin Franke to give the Saints the 5-4 lead with 6 minutes to go. James Hagens, the 2024 NHL draft prospect and Boston College commit would be the hero for the USNTDP, tying the game 5-5 with 2 minutes to go before setting up the game winner in overtime.
