Beniers, Powers Headline Draft Eligible Prospects
Players to Watch
Danila Klimovich - Forward
Belarus
Klimovich was the surprise of the 2021 IIHF U18 Tournament in Texas, scoring 6 goals and putting his name in a lot of scout’s notebooks. The 2021 draft eligible is a sign of things to come from Belarus Hockey, with Klimovich playing all of his junior and midget hockey in the Belarus system.
Yegor Sharangovich - Forward
Belarus
The New Jersey Devils forward had a great 1st season after coming over from the KHL, finishing the season with 16 goals and 14 assists. Sharangovich is the captain of the Belarus side and scored in their first game loss to Slovakia
Janis Moser - Defenseman
Switzerland
Moser, a double overage prospect, is a mid round rated prospect who has had significant improvement in his skating.
Juraj Slafkovsky - Forward
Slovakia
A 6’4” power forward with skill, Slafkovsky is one of many youngsters on the Slovakian team. The 2022 draft eligible prospect failed to get a point in the 2021 World Juniors, but was noticeable for Slovakia.
Players to Watch
Lukas Reichel - Forward
Germany
The Blackhawk 2020 1st rounder was noticeable throughout Germany’s opening game against Italy. Brings skill and quick hands at pace to the German lineup.
Moritz Seider - Defenseman
Germany
2021 SHL Defenseman of the Year is not a bad addition to the trophy case of any young defenseman. The Red Wings 6th overall pick in 2019 looks ready to make the jump to the NHL, but this tournament will be a great test for the 6’4” defenseman.
Owen Power - Defenseman
Canada
A top 3 pick in most mock drafts, Power has great mobility for a 6’5” defenseman. Should be interesting to see how he compares against older, heavier competition. Power had 16 points in 26 games at University of Michigan, and also had 40 points in his last year in the USHL.
Matt Beniers - Forward
United States
Some scouts argue depending on who is awarded the 1st overall selection, Beniers could be hearing his name called first at the 2021 draft. The shifty forward has great playmaking abilities at speed, and does a great job maintaining or accelerating with the puck. Beniers finished his freshman season at University of Michigan with 24 points in 24 games.
Maple Leafs Captain in Stable Condition after Game 1 Collision
NHL
John Tavares is in stable condition after a scary collision with Canadians Corey Perry that led to the captain being stretchered off. Tavares would give the thumbs up on his was off the ice, and was later diagnosed with a concussion.
Chicago Takes Lead in Clark Cup Final

Chicago Steel defeated Fargo 7-1 in Game 3 of the Clark Cup Final to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Playoff point leader and 2021 draft prospect Matt Coronato finished game 3 with 2 goals and 1 assist.
