2021 TSA Scouting Journal Survey
Our goal with this survey is simple. Help us help you ! Our blog has grown tremendously in the last 6 months, and we want your feedback on what info you really want to read about.
The TSA Scouting Journal was created during the Covid pandemic as an outlet for a small, tight knit group of scouts as we battled through some uncertain times in the hockey world. This survey will help us grow and reorganize as a scouting staff for the 2021-2022 season !
We can ensure all info will be used for internal improvements only. No answers or collected information will be redistributed or sold to any outsider parties.
As we turn out of the Covid era, we want to again say thank you to all our readers and subscribers. You have been such a motivator throughout the pandemic, and we hope to serve you for years to come .

Flower’s Fumble Opens Door For Habs
NHL
With less than 2 minutes to go, and outshooting Montreal 39-17, everything looked perfect for the Golden Knights to take a 2-1 series lead. On a routine dump in, Vegas goaltender miss handled an exchange and gifted a pass right onto Josh Anderson’s stick to tie the game. This may have woken a sleeping giant, as Anderson struggled till this point in the post season.
The fumble by Flower was a tough break for a goaltender who has been sensational all year, but was the break Montreal was always looking for. Anderson would set up and finish the game winner in overtime to give Montreal the 2-1 series lead.
Takeaways for all goaltenders :
1 - Even the best make mistakes
2 - Practice puck handling !
Mount St Charles has provided talent to junior leagues across North America for years. Our scouting staff broke down the players selected in each of the following 2021 drafts

NAHL Supplemental
USPHL NCDC Entry Draft
Simon Motew - ‘03 Defenseman - Chicago Cougars (USPHL Premier)
Draft Ranking : #129 North American Skaters
Motew is an interesting story for the upcoming NHL draft. In 2019-2020, Motew played for Kitchener in the OHL after developing in the Chicago Mission organization for U13 to U15. But due to Covid shutting down the OHL, needed a place to play. Motew joined Chicago in December, and was a threat immediately. With great offensive instincts, Motew loves to jump in the play, and is extremely creative when attacking.
At times, it looked too easy for Motew, and he finished the season with 16 goals and 29 assists in just 21 games. It has caught the attention of league scouts, as he was not listed in January by NHL Central scouting.
Overall Motew is a talented offensive defenseman, who can walk the blue line with the best. But can he defend against the toughest opponents, and keep up at high pace will be the real question for this exciting prospect.
