The NCAA Division I Frozen Four starts today ! The semifinal matchups will start today at 5:30 PM EST as BU takes on University of Denver
Boston University vs University of Denver
4.11.24 5:30 pm EST
BU vs Denver could be a toss up. On one side, the high flying offense of BU featuring Macklin Celebrini and Lane Hutson, 2 prospects we (most likely) will see in the NHL next season. On the other, the experienced Denver squad who boasts the nationals highest-scoring offense is back in the Frozen Four after taking home the 2022 National Championship. The NCHC champions barely avoided disaster in the opening round of regional play, going toe to toe with UMass in a 2-1, double OT win.
The draft attention all week has been on BU’s Celebrini, but fans should keep a close eye on Zeev Buium. Denver’s elusive and athletic offensive defenseman has continued to climb draft boards, and looks to be a possible top 10 pick.
Boston College vs University of Michigan
4.11.24 8:30 pm EST
Boston College narrowly avoided the upset in the Providence Regional final, outlasting last years National Champion Quinnipiac in a 5-4 OT win to reach the Frozen Four. BC is loaded with the big freshman names like Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault and Will Smith + Hobey Baker finalist Cutter Gauthier + one of the top NHL goaltending prospects in Jacob Fowler.
Michigan is missing some of the top NHL prospects from last season like Fantilli and Hughes, but the high flying offense has gotten hot at the right time, entering their 3rd straight Frozen Four. Battling through a tough Maryland Heights regional, the Wolverines defeated North Dakota 4-3 before getting their revenge on Michigan State 5-4 in OT to reach the Frozen Four. Watch for Rutger McGroarty and Gavin Brindley to continue to drive the play + Seamus Casey from the back end.
