Evander Kane Out of Trouble, For Now
NHL
The NHL has concluded its investigation into San Jose Shark forward Evander Kane, after allegations from his spouse that he was betting on games he was playing in. The investigation was conduction by Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP with assistance from NHL Security. The allegations began after Kane’s wife Deanna went to social media to “out” Kane for his behavior off the ice, as well as his history of betting on his own games. In January, Kane filed for bankruptcy, listing $1.5 Million in gambling debts owed.
Unrelated to the NHL gambling investigation that is now closed. The San Jose Sharks reported that Kane will not participate in the teams upcoming training camp, as another investigation has been opened regarding Kane, but the NHL did not specify in more detail.
Eichel Stripped Of “C”
NHL
The Jack Eichel saga continues, as he has failed his physical as expected. The failed physical comes as no surprise to anyone, as Eichel continues to fight with team doctors on how to repair a herniated disk in his neck.
"To this point, Jack is not willing to move forward with the fusion surgery that our doctors are suggesting. So we're going to continue to work towards solutions. I spoke to Jack two days ago, I spoke to the team yesterday and addressed this, Jack Eichel is no longer the captain of the Buffalo Sabres”
- GM Kevyn Adams of the Buffalo Sabres.
Rumors have died down regarding Eichel and his ability to be traded, as most teams have already begun training camp. Will be interesting to see if Eichel puts on a Sabres jersey again, with most insiders leaning toward no.
