Flyers Lead All NHL Teams In Participating Prospects
The Philadelphia Flyers boast the most prospects playing in the 4 team event, led by 2023 1st round pick Oliver Bonk and 2024 1st round pick Jett Luchanko for Team Canada. Seattle , St Louis and San Jose all follow with 6 prospects.
Canada’s Firepower
Even without 2024 overall selection Macklin Celebrini, Canada bring a roster full of top NHL talent on Friday. Of the oversized roster of 42, 38 are NHL draft picks from the past 2 years, with 17 former 1st round picks. In comparison, Canada and the US have around 90% drafted players, yet the United States with just 7 1st round picks, Sweden with 2 and Finland 1.
Notable 2024 Draft Prospects
Beckett Sennecke - Anaheim Ducks 3rd overall
Cayden Lindstrom - Columbus Blue Jackets 4th overall
Tij Iginla - Utah HC 6th overall
Carter Yakemchuk - Calgary Flames 7th overall
Berkly Catton - Seattle Kraken 8th overall
Zayne Parekh - Calgary Flames 9th overall
Top 2025 NHL Draft Prospects To Watch
Victor Eklund - Sweden
An early look on a projected 1st round pick, Eklund found the scoresheet yesterday with a quick snipe dashing through the middle. The brother of San Jose’s 2023 7th overall pick William, Victor’s game is a mix of skill and more of a traditional power forward, hardworking, energy with the ability to create out of nothing.
James Hagens - United States
The projected 1st overall pick did not waste any time in this showcase, entering day 3 Wednesday with 1G 2A in 2 games. Hagens, a Boston College commit, operates at any speed in complete control, dynamic ability to break or dangle in any direction. His top speed is elite, a constant, creative threat.
LJ Mooney - United States
A late addition to the United States roster, Mooney is the youngest player at the Summer Showcase but has been a prospect on scout’s radars for a couple years. A crafty, agile puck handler, Mooney’s size is the only question entering his draft year, a great opportunity to show what he can do against the biggest and best. His motor and quick feet keeps him ahead of plays, with the offensive creativity to be a dual threat on the puck.
Porter Martone - Canada
Martone finished an over a point per game OHL season by captaining Team Canada at U18 World Championships, putting up 5G 12A in 7 games. He can lead the way offensively, while responsible and constantly engaged, a hardworking playmaker who can also bury the puck.
