Prospect Spotlight - Jesse Riccio
Birth Year : 2005
Height : 5 ft 11 in
Weight : 165 lbs
Position : Goaltender
Hometown - East Quogue, NY
Current Team : New Jersey Titans U15
What makes him a prospect?
Riccio is an athletic, smart goaltender who controls the game with every save. Never out of any play, the Long Island native is quick to rebounds, and can make the desperation save look easy. Riccio is the backbone of the New Jersey Titans U15 team and has played 1 game so far for the U16 team vs North Jersey Avalanche. As one of the top goaltenders at U15, Riccio has caught the eye of multiple OHL scouts.
Areas To Improve On
As with all young goaltenders, Riccio is still learning how to adjust his game as he grows into his body. Riccio has taken huge steps in his development this season under coaches Gary Biggs and Mike Haggerty, with a focus on his off ice conditioning and hockey IQ training. Look for Riccio to continue to grow into his body, and put on the muscle on his lower half.
Overall
Riccio is a great prospect for junior programs both in the United States and Canada. His athleticism, flexibility and skating speed make him the ideal prospect to mold into a solid starting goaltender. With 2 goaltending coaches as his head and assistant coaches at U15 for the Titans, Riccio’s game has progressed significantly already in 2020-2021, and will continue into the off season. Would not be a surprise if Riccio is picked up in the upcoming OHL draft.
