Tier III Power Rankings + U15 Central Scouting Report
Tier III Power Rankings #1
1. New Hampshire Avalanche EHL
One of the most consistent programs in Tier 3 hockey, Coach Cerrella has built another winner this year. Playing in the North Division they have simply taken care of business with a 12-0-1-0 streak and an impressive plus 39 goal differential that is by far the best in the league. 02' Forward Aden Hotchkiss leads the league in scoring with 36 points.
2. Richmond Generals USPHL Premier
Recent sweeps of the Charlotte Rush and a good Rockets Hockey Club program, have put the Generals in the top 3 category. Helping the case for the Southeast strength of schedule were the Generals as they are currently 10-0 in cross division games, and have won in convincing fashion. December opens up with a two-game set vs the Rush, Colleges should have eyes on that weekend series.
Weekend Report - Charlotte Rush vs Richmond Generals
3. Granite City NA3HL
Top to bottom this group is extremely impressive, current leading the West Division by 16 pts, but it is their defensive core that have been the most impressive. Junior veteran defensemen Brett Robinson, Joe Greniuk and Kyle Mortensen are a match up nightmare for any forward group. Goaltender Xander Roberts has been up to the task all year with a 91.8 save percentage.
4. Utah Outliers USPHL Premier
Utah has raced out to a 20-2-1-1 record but suffered a recent loss to Ogden Friday night. Their December schedule consists of 4 games vs an Idaho Falls team who has struggled, currently sitting last in Mountain Division with just 2 wins. The 3 games December matchups vs Ogden will be crucial if Utah wants to increase their Mountain Division lead.
They are an older mature team that returned a lot of pieces from last year's team that saw a ton of success. Offensively they are a deep unit that can score in bunches. Their depth and overall experience makes this a team that is built for long term success.
5. Vermont Lumberjacks EHL
Another North division team in the top 10 of our first power rankings shows how our scouts feel about the division. Vermont has taken care of business to date and in December they feature a bunch of cross over games where they can make up the three points they are trailing the Avalanche by. Vermont is an older team that is built for a good long run this season, Colleges should be taking notice of their 20-year old's.
6. Charlotte Rush USPHL Premier
Once again the Southeast division is a battle night in and night out. The Rush have been consistent and feature a squad that has shown the ability to fill the net. Forwards 03' Forward Livio Azevedo leads the division with 40 points (10G 30A) and 02' Forward Hunter Berry 37 points (15G 22A) is second in the division in scoring.
7. New England Wolves EHL
The North division of the EHL is the deepest division in all of Tier 3 Junior, it was proven at the most recent EHL showcase where the North went 11-1. The Wolves currently sit in second in the Division but have a chance to catch the Avalanche in December as their schedule lightens up a bit. Disappointing for the Wolves is their 1-3 record vs Vermont and New Hampshire this season.
8. Boston Jr. Rangers EHL
A 13-8 record does not show how much potential this team has. Since September where they went 1-4, the Junior Rangers are 12-4. The EHL is a tough league where through the first third of the season teams are beating up on each other. The Rangers are trending in the right direction. December will be an opportunity for them to send a message to the league as they faceoff vs New Hampshire, Seacoast, Railers and the 87's in a three week stretch.
9. Northern Cyclones USPHL Premier
The New England division of the USPHL is not the best division in Tier 3 hockey but 1-8 are balanced. To date, the Cyclones only have seen 1 loss which was to a good Junior Bruins team back in October, otherwise they have been perfect. They are a team that plays with a ton of speed and have the scorers to make a good run this year. December features two games vs IHC and one vs Boston Jr. Bruins which would be a good indicator of where this team is.
10. Peoria Mustangs NA3HL
In a tight Central Division race where the Rochester Grizzlies, Oregon Tradesman and Peoria have been going back and forth all year, our scouts place Peoria as the current top team. Despite being in third in the division they have games in hand on Rochester and they hold a 3-1 record vs Oregon. Their two games earlier in October vs Granite City were absolute battles and are 9-1 in their last 10.
