Tier III Power Rankings
February 2021
Our scouting staff throws out the computer model and evaluated these teams with our eyes. Player depth, schedule difficulty and most NCAA talent were the three major categories.
1 - Boston Jr Rangers (EHL)
29W-4L-1OTL
The Junior Rangers have been pumping out Division 3 commits over the last few weeks. With the obvious distractions that come with committing players their play has gone to average for their standards. A loss to a surging Walpole team and a last place Valley Warriors team should raise some concern. They will need to find their groove again before playoffs start.
2 - New Jersey 87’s (EHL)
28W-1L-3OTL
They have been good all year but this team looks to be on a mission coming down the home stretch. Taking care of business day in and day out they are going to be a tough out for anyone in the playoffs. Their only hiccup of late is a shootout loss to a very good Maryland team.
3 - Charlotte Rush (USPHL Premier)
32W-7L-1OTL
(Previous 3)- Two recent losses to Charleston raise a few red flags for this young highly skilled team. They can score at high volumes which they demonstrated vs a last place Potomac team outscoring them 28-1 in three games. They finish up February with two big match ups vs Hampton Roads and Carolina.
4 - New Hampshire Avalanche (EHL)
25W-7L-2OTL
Very up and down since last ranking period going 4-4. Vermont gave them fits and the NE Wolves defeated the Avalanche twice. They look to gain some momentum heading into playoffs as they face the same Vermont and New England Wolves team.
5 - Rochester Grizzlies (NA3HL)
23W-5L-1OTL
The Grizzlies jump into our top 5 this ranking period as they are finding ways to win. Their division is proving to be one of the tougher ones as a good Peoria team is trying to catch them in the standings. The Grizzlies have a good stretch of winnable games and should finish in first if they do not have any hiccups.
