Below is a comparison of the rosters of the 8 teams from the final fours of the NCAA Division III and ACHA Division I national tournaments. The league information was gathered by reviewing where each player competed before entering college, including any transfers.

Over 52% of rostered players in the NCAA Division III Final Four played within tier II junior hockey, with 38 from the NAHL and 22 from the USPHL NCDC. The NAHL was represented with 10+ players on Trinity College, Utica and Hobart, 7 on Adrian College, by far the top producing league. Tier III junior leagues (EHL, NA3HL and USPHL Premier) only had 4 players within the NCAA Division III final four, but made up over 40% of rostered players in the ACHA Division I final four. The NA3HL, the affiliate to the NAHL, had 16 rostered players in the ACHA tournament vs no players at the NCAA DIII level, while the USPHL Premier led all leagues with 25. The USPHL Premier and EHL were the only leagues that appeared on all 4 roster’s at the ACHA tournament.

The NA3HL total is from just 2 programs - 11 on Central Oklahoma and 5 on UNLV. The EHL had just 6 players on final four rosters at the ACHA level, but continues to produce both NCAA D3 and ACHA prospects across New England and nationwide.

The NAHL was well represented at the ACHA tournament as well with 12 players, led by 5 on Ohio University alone. 34.5% of players came from Canadian Jr leagues compared to 25.2% at the NCAA DIII level, led by the NOJHL and KIJHL each with 9. Leagues based in Ontario (OJHL, NOJHL, GOJHL) made up 20 of the 40 total players.
