NAHL Top Prospects Preview
The 2022 NAHL Top Prospects tournament will be held at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex outside Pittsburgh beginning Monday, February 7th. The 2 day event’s full of top, uncommitted prospects, with the NAHL just recently announcing the addition of the US National Team Development Program U17 team, and an additional team comprised of the youngest players from the original rosters.
Northern Michigan leads all Division I programs in total prospects for the showcase with 3, Defenseman Dyer Owen (Wichita Falls), Forward Zion Green (Maine), and Forward Michael Mesic (North Iowa). Michigan State were second in most prospects with 2, goaltender Luca DiPasquo (Maryland) and Owen West (Jamestown).
Breaking down the 5 rosters consisting of NAHL players, the Selects team holds the majority of NCAA Division I committed players, with 12 of 13 of all committed players. Monday’s game against the NTDP U17’s should be a great game for all scouts to tune into.

Tuesday, February 8th
9:00 am - Selects vs Midwest
11:30 am - South vs Central
2:00 pm - East vs NTDP
Amongst the NAHL prospects, 20, of the total 100 prospects, come from the state of Minnesota, with Michigan, Wisconsin, and New York all listing 5 or more prospects. Prospects to watch include the league’s point leader Cole Dubicki (Kenai River), currently with 14 goals and 37 assists in just 39 games.

For NHL fans, all 4 players listed on the latest NHL Central Scouting’s mid season rankings will be playing over the weekend. Defenseman Aaron Pionk (MN Wilderness), ranked #172 amongst North American skaters, and Nick Ring (New Jersey), ranked #174 amongst North American skaters, are both playing for the newly formed NAHL Selects team. Goaltenders Luca DiPasquo (Maryland), ranked 25th and Croix Kochendorfer, ranked #27th (Chippewa) will play for the East, and Midwest teams.
