NAHL Power Rankings + Recruiting Tips
NAHL Power Rankings #2
Since our last NAHL Power ranking there have been some major changes, but the one thing that has been consistent is the South Division looks to be the top division this year in the NAHL. Here are our power rankings edition number 2:
1 - Lone Star Brahmas
14-1-1-1 (Previous 4)
No one can argue with the success Lone Star has had this season. They are a deep team offensively and defensively which makes it hard for any team to match up against.
The Brahmas also feature a goaltending duo of Arthur Smith and William Gramme that have a combined 1.49gaa and 93.7 save percentage. All eyes will be on the Thanksgiving eve match-up vs Oklahoma. They then face off vs Amarillo and then back with Oklahoma, this 5-game stretch will be a good indicator of where this team is at.
2- Oklahoma Warriors
14-2-0-1 (Previous 8)
Making a big jump in the rankings are the Warriors. Much like the Brahmas they are an extremely deep team that up front receives consistent scoring from its top 3 forward lines. Goaltending wise Daniel Duris and Cameron Korpi have posted similar numbers to the Lone Star duo posting a 1.92gaa and a 92.8 save percentage.
Oklahoma has a chance to send a message heading into December as they are matched up with Lone Star on several occasions.
3 - Maryland Blackbears
20-3-0-0 (Previous 3)
Winners of their last 6 and on a current 9-1 streak the Blackbears are the best in the East Division thus far. Their league leading 87 goals combined with their league leading +46 goal differential are big reasons why.
03' Forward Christian Catalano (RIT Commit) leads the league in scoring in his first year in the NAHL with 19goals and 13 assists good enough for 32points in 23 games.
4 - Austin Bruins
13-2-1-3 (Previous 9
Another team that has made a big jump in this ranking period are the Austin Bruins. Since Mid-October this has been one of the hottest teams in the league only having 2 losses since Oct 14. Their penalty kill is third in the league at 87 % and has been a major part of their success.
However, their power play is bottom 10 in the league at 16.1 percent, something they need to improve in a pretty tight Central division.
5 - New Mexico Ice Wolves
12-4-0-1 (Previous 1)
New Mexico has dropped a bit here, mostly because of their South Division rivals performing at a high level. Getting swept by Oklahoma was disappointing for this squad especially coming off a sweep of Amarillo and taking 2 of 3 from Shreveport.
They have some time to fine tune their game as they face off vs the spiraling Corpus Christi IceRays in their next 4 games.

Rivalry Series Update
The USA has opened up the 2022 Rivalry Series with 2 wins vs Canada, with an exciting 4-3 shootout win in Kelowna on 11.15, followed up by a 2-1 win 11.17 in Kamloops.
Alex Carpenter was a key contributor for the USA, tying Game 1 late in the 3rd period before scoring in the shootout, and scoring the game winner in Game 2. Hilary Knight had 1G 1A in Game 1, also scoring in the shootout.
Nicole Hensley was impressive in both games between the pipes for the Americans, making the key saves in the shootout, while shutting the door in Game 2. Canadian captain Marie Philip Poulin has scored in the first 2 games for Canada, and will look to continue to lead the Canadians into games 3 and 4.
