Bismarck Bobcats
Previous 1 - 40-10-1-1
Hanging onto the top spot for most of the season are the Bobcats. Despite divisional rivals closing the gap, the Bobcats continuously find ways to stay on top of the division. With the highest winning percentage in the league, a top half power play and penalty kill to go with one of the top goaltenders in the league in Tomas Anderson, they are simply a hard team to beat night in and night out. They finish the season out with two tough series' vs North Iowa and St. Cloud and finish against Minot, which may decide the division title.
Lone Star Brahmas
Previous 2 - 41-11-2-2
The defending champs have the most wins in the league and have really created separation in the South Division. A few weeks ago, the division was up for grabs, however Lone Star just keeps on winning. Dominating second place Corpus with an overall record of 4-1 since January has secured the division for the Brahmas.
07' Boston College committed goaltender Ryan Cameron has elevated his NHL draft stock this season posting a 94.5 save percentage and a 1.3 GAA on the year. They are a complete team with only one player in the top 50 in scoring of the league. The number one penalty kill in the league at 89 percent, Lone Star plays a tight system that is hard to beat and they can come at their opponents in waves.
Minot Minotauros
Previous 8 - 39-12-1-0
Minot's surge has been noticed, as they closed in on Bismarck now only being 3 points back of first place. They possess the best goal differential in the league at 94 and have a top 10 penalty kill to go with the second-best power play in the league that clicks at 24 percent. The team can be lethal offensively as they have four scorers that are top 10 in the league in scoring, Jack O' Hanison 04', Jesse Juhola 04', Billy Batten 04' and Ian Spencer 04'. The Central division is proving to be tough night in and night out. Minot get's no nights off if they want to capture the Central division crown as they have 4 games vs Austin, 2 vs Aberdeen and 2 vs Bismarck.
Austin Bruins
Previous 6 - 36-11-3-2
Right behind Bismarck and the Minotauros are the Bruins. With a lot to be settled in the last 3 weeks this pesky team has the opportunity at the division title as well. With 4 games vs Minot and then 2 with the Mallards and North Iowa, the Bruins in three weeks can be sitting at the top when all said and done. The Bruins possess a top 5 PK at 85 percent a top 10 power play at 19 percent have two game changers up front in Alex Laurenza and Luc Malkhassian. Laurenza, a 2005 forward committed to Union has 74 points on the year and Malkhassian who currently is uncommitted but should be getting D1 attention has 69 points.
Wisconsin Windigo
Previous 5 - 35-13-1-3
A consistent performer this season, the Windigo have been splitting series' for the last three straight weekends. They will be spending the rest of the season on the road as they are currently in their Alaskan swing as they look to clinch the Midwest division. A strong defensive core and the goaltending of Lucas Szyszka have been a major reason why this team has been so successful this year. They have a top 3 penalty kill in the league but their power play really struggles at times, they will need to continue to be successful 5 on 5 if they look to make a deep run in the playoffs.
