GAME REPORT - NAHL BISMARCK VS ST CLOUD
3.25.21 - Bismarck Bobcats (2) vs St Cloud Norseman (1)
3.25.21 - Bismarck Bobcats (2) vs St Cloud Norseman (1)
Bismarck and St Cloud gave us a start to a good weekend of NAHL hockey as Bismarck skated to a 2-1 win on Thursday. A defensive battle throughout gave us no goals in the first period before St Cloud was able to break the tie of a low angle shot by Nikolas Hong that beat the Bismarck goalie.
Not too long after that Bismarck was able to tie it back off through some nice offensive zone movement as Patrick Johnson tied it up. Heading into the 3rd it felt as if it would only take one more goal to win the game and that’s what we got on a late Power Play by Bismarck. After getting a puck through to the front of the net Braden Costello put the rebound in to put Bismarck ahead for good.
Scouting Notes
Tommy Aitken - ‘02 Goaltender - Bismarck Bobcats
Commit : N/A
The 2002 birth year goalie from Winchester, MA was good all night for Bismarck holding St Cloud to one goal. Tommy has very efficient movements from side to side and does things with a purpose. One of the best things he does is lead with his hands and plays with aggressive hands to help cut down angles.
Patrick Johnson - ‘03 Forward - Bismarck Bobcats
Commit : N/A
An 03 forward with a lot of growth left in his game. Johnson has a good knack and mind to find open space all over the ice. He was able to do this on the goal he scored and then showed of a good quick release that beat the goalie short side.
Braden Costello - ‘00 Forward - Bismarck Bobcats
Commit : N/A
The 2000 forward from Grand forks found the game winning goal off a rebound late in the 3rd. Braden does a really good job throughout the game of creating havoc in front of the net while being able to pick up loose pucks. An underrated skill to take goalies eyes away, comes from hard work and willingness to go to the net.
Owen Michaels - ‘02 Forward - Bismarck Bobcats
Commit : UMass
The ‘02 forward has elite vision all over the ice. Especially in the offensive zone Michaels always plays with his head up and scans the ice at all times. He portrayed this ability on the first goal of the game as he found Johnson in the offensive zone. Coupling this with his good skating ability makes Michaels a player to watch heading into the next levels of hockey.
Nikolas Hong - ‘02 Forward - St Cloud Norseman
Commit : N/A
The ‘02 forward had a good showing on Thursday night with a good quick shot from a low angle that found its way to the back of the net. One aspect of Hong’s game that cannot go unnoticed is his ability in the dot, he had a good night overall there and can see that his game builds with confidence from his ability in the dot.
Paxton Geisel - ‘04 Forward - St Cloud Norseman
Commit : Denver
the 2004 Denver commit has had a good year in the NAHL to help develop his game as he moves up the ranks of hockey. Geisel plays a very balanced and calm game and never looks out of place. He can be athletic when needed and does an outstanding job tracking pucks. Lots too look forward to for Geisel as he continues to develop his game for when he arrives to Denver.
Gunnar Johnson - ‘01 Forward - St Cloud Norseman
Commit : N/A
The 2001 defenseman was active all night, showing good habits and solid positional play. The one thing to really like about Gunnar’s game is his active stick as he always tries to play longer then he is and touches pucks everywhere.
