Swan Valley opened the season with a 4 game sweep of the OCN Blizzard, followed by a split with Waywayseecappo. League leader in points Hadyn Delorme (4G 9A 13pts) leads the deep forward group, including skilled ‘01 forward Alex Danis and ‘00 forward Jackson Zloty, who has a point in every game he’s played. The Stampeders rely on their neutral zone positioning and aggressive forecheck to drive their offense. With 10 rookies in their lineup, including 3 defenseman, consistency will be the question mark as the season moves along.
Scouting Notes
Haydn Delorme - ‘00 Forward - Swan Valley Stampeders
Delorme is a skilled forward that has a nose for the net. He’s creative on the offside half wall on the powerplay, and had a beautiful seam pass on the game winning goal. Has a creative side, can see the game a step ahead of everyone else, which him to create scoring opportunities, and he’s not afraid of physicality as shown by his fight.
Brenden Saether - ‘00 Defense - Swan Valley Stampeders
Saether, team captain of Swan Valley, is a physical defenseman that is hard to play against. He knows his role, protects his teammates and goalies at all costs, and is not afraid to step in for anyone. He plays extremely simple and does not overcomplicate the game, because moves puck quickly to the next available option.
Alex Danis - ‘01 Forward - Swan Valley Stampeders
Danis has good speed and is shifty on his edges which allows him to create. He has good vision, and always has head up looking to make a play. Danis has good speed and hockey sense which allows him to be effective on penalty kill.

Virden Oil Capitals - 5-0-1-0
Virden opened the season with 4 hard fought games against Portage, and have looked to get better with each game. Kyle Kozma is a rock in net for the Oil Capitals, boasting a .926 Save % in his first 5 games. Offensively, the Oil Capitals are a creative team, that can score off the rush or off cycles. Their forward group is deep, and have a variety of play styles that mesh well together. The Oil Capitals are also finding ways to get it done when it comes to special teams, currently ranked 3rd on both the powerplay (37%) and penalty kill (88.6%).
Scouting Notes
Hunter Cloutier - ‘00 Forward - Virden Oil Capitals
Cloutier showed his skill all over the ice. He is a very well rounded player, especially when it comes to offensive instincts and reading of plays. His release is quick when he decides to pull the trigger, but with some development in his defensive instincts and acceleration, Cloutier could be an exciting prospect.
Kyle Kozma - ‘01 Goaltender - Virden Oil Capitals
Kozma uses a very technical approach, and is extremely calm in all situations. His skating could be more powerful, but patient feet and fundamentally sound throughout his movements. Kozma’s post play and coverage are his best attributes, moving effortlessly and taking down large amounts of a shot’s angle. His ability to cover large portions of net and remaining calm in his movements is his biggest attribute. He is the backbone for Virden, especially on the penalty kill.

Well rounded, 200 ft player that has a bunch of tools in the tool chest. Multidimensional game offensively, can beat you on the rush, or below the goal line. 62 points in 50 MJHL games in 2019-2020, and is already amongst the league leaders for 2020
Ethan Buenaventura - ‘04 Goalie - Winnipeg Blues
Positionally sounds coverage goaltender with good technique, especially reading plays and head trajectory. Uses size to his advantage, and is aggressive when needed. At 6’1”, he has the hockey IQ to develop. Will need to improve balance and athleticism, but an exciting young goaltender to watch.
