GAME REPORT - U16 WESTCHESTER EXPRESS VS BOSTON HOCKEY ACADEMY
10.3.20 -U16 Westchester Express (0) vs. U16 Boston Hockey Academy (Imperials)(6)
The Boston Hockey Academy dominated the 1st half of play in today’s game. With the team already up 2-0, BHA tallied 2 quick goals in the final minutes of the half to take a commanding 4-0 lead into intermission. BHA held a 15-6 shot advantage heading into the 2nd half of play, and they were able to limit Westchester to shots from the outside for most of the period.
Westchester tightened up the shot differential in the 2nd half thanks to a few powerplays (including a 5-3) but it had little impact on the scoreboard. BHA scored early in the 2nd half of play, and despite being shorthanded for part of the period they were able to coast to an easy 6-0 final. Thanks to a more competitive 2nd half, the final shots were 29-26 in favor of BHA.
While Westchester has some talented players, they rely too heavily on individual play, and their lack of cohesion hurt them today against a strong BHA attack. Throughout the game the Express fell victim to numerous d-zone breakdowns where they would consistently lose net-front coverage and allow quality shots from high percentage scoring areas.
On the opposite side, BHA is a skilled group that consistently plays a strong team game. Their counterattack is very dangerous, and they use their speed to generate offense off the rush. They generate chances as a 5-man unit and they continually outnumbered Westchester on the puck in all 3 zones.
Top Players
Christian Day - ‘04 Forward #71- Day led BHA’s offense today with 2 goals. He’s a skilled forward with slick hands, smooth skating and a quick release. He does a great job finding holes in coverage to open up for one-timers in dangerous scoring areas, and he used his speed to separate from the defender for his breakaway goal (his second of the game). Overall Day projects to be a DI prospect.
Botond Kocsis - ‘04 Forward #74 - Kocis is a tall, lanky and skilled forward. He’s an accurate passer who can make plays in tight spaces, and he uses his vision to create offense off the cycle. He uses his body and reach to protect the puck when it’s on his stick, and away from the play he shows good puck support in all 3 zones. Overall Kocsis projects to be a D1 prospect.
Seth Bushey - ‘04 Goalie #32 - Bushey played well when tested. He has excellent rebound control (especially during 5x3 late in 2nd half) and he challenges shooter well from top of crease. He is a technically sound goaltender that shows strong pushes to his glove side (good laterally overall), and strong balance.
