Wilkes Barre Scranton Knights (4) vs Rockets Hockey Club (3)
USPHL NCDC - 9.20.24
It looked like a blow out in the 1st as the Knigths went up 3-0 lead 2-0 in the first 1:50 dominating play. A bigger and older team they used their size well winning all of the 1 on 1 battles. The Rockets had a lot of rookies and clearly had early jitters. Day scored on a nice wrist shot off a rush, Ishagi had a ice tip in a couple of feet off the ice early and Abram-Hale got nice shot in through a screen.
Dinritrievsky came into the net for the Rockets and began to shut the door and they began to settle down. No scoeing in the second Wilkes still had an edge but less In the third Komandet scored on a nice shot though a screen to make ti 4-0. Then it began to shift. McFaul poked in a rebound on a PP and the Rockets began to climb back. At the 15:47 mark Simpson tipped in a shot to make it 4-2 on the PP at 15:47. Rocket pressure became relentless and Harvie put it in off a goal mouth scramble.
The rest of the game the Rockets were all over WB a lot of point blank shots and dominant zone time. The last 10 to 12 minutes were all Rockets. A game that looked like a blow out became a game where Wilkes was lucky to get the win and owe a lot to Pepin in net
