Scouting Notes
John Myers – ‘02 Forward – New York Applecore
A scorer with a dangerous shot and the ability to score in diverse ways. He has very good hands in tight around the net. He drives the net hard to sniff out rebounds. He is a positionally sound player who will sacrifice his body to block shots and is not afraid to throw the body. He could improve his speed and his first few steps.
Michael Leva – ‘00 Forward - New York Applecore
Skilled forward with quick feet and high level passing ability. His creative nature allows him to find open teammates and rack up assists. He defends well in his own zone constantly looking to neutralize the opponent’s scoring threat. He is relied upon heavily to kill penalties. He will look to stretch the play by flying the zone to take a defender with him.
Michael Carducci – ‘00 Forward - New York Applecore
He is a hard-working player who is calm with the puck and displays good vision able to set up teammates for quality scoring chances. He drives the net hard with good hands in tight. He is not the smoothest skater; his stride could be elongated to make him faster. He pressures hard on the forecheck with a long active stick that eliminates cross-ice passes.
Halen Cookston – ‘00 Forward – Team Maryland
He has good speed and can transition the puck up ice alone. He has high IQ and good East-West playmaking ability. He will take what is given but looks to take the puck to the center off the rush for a better shooting lane. He backchecks well, able to lift up sticks to turn the play the other way. He is not afraid to mix it up on the walls.
Rory Gresham – ‘00 Defenseman – Team Maryland
An all situations defender with offensive upside. He skates with a strong wide base that allows him to protect the puck well from pressuring opponents. He will rush the puck but makes smart decisions and does not over-extend himself. He has a pretty heavy shot from the point. He keeps a relatively close gap, but tends to drift outside the dots allowing space to cut to the center.
Bobby Geier – ‘01 Forward – Team Maryland
A scoring winger who supports teammates very well by constantly moving to open space to be a passing option. Always looking to shoot. Drives the net hard and can finish in front. Defensively responsible constantly serving as third man high. Stays on the right side of the puck. Strong in the corners with wide base that makes him hard to knock off puck.
Jackson Bernard – ‘01 Goalie – New York Applecore
He is an athletic goalie who moves well from post to post and battles to get back to position to stop second chances. He uses his stick to deflect pucks away from high danger areas. He plays the puck very well and can fire it down the ice to teammates. He will come out aggressively to challenge shooters off the rush. He sometimes overcommits on his angle allowing too much space on the far side.
