EHL College Commitments Analysis

The EHL is one of the top producers of Division II and III NCAA commits, as well as the ACHA level. We broke down the 2023 commitments, to give players and families some insights on what schools, and conferences are focusing on the EHL. Of the 115 total commitments, 90 (78%) were to Division III schools, led by the MASCAC with 33 due to 13 to one of the newest programs at Division III, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The 25 commitments to Division II schools were to the Northeast 10 conference, the 2nd most amongst all conferences.

• Franklin Pierce University (NE-10) - 7

• Anna Maria College (D3 Independent) - 6

• Assumption University (NE-10) - 6

• Southern New Hampshire University (NE-10) - 6

• Fitchburg State University (MASCAC) - 6

• Manhattanville College (UCHC) - 5

Another MASCAC school, Plymouth State University, only has 3 total commits from the EHL, but landed 2 of the top 5 scorers in the league - Seacoast’s William Pray (50GP 33G 45A), and Aden Hotchkiss (51GP 22G 52A).

The CCC, UCHC and Independent schools at the Division III level each had 10 or more commits, with 14 total commits going to New England area conferences NESCAC and NEHC.

Commits By School Conference

When reviewing team commitments, it is important to take into consideration the age of rostered players, as well as age of the program. Low # of commitments could simply indicate a younger team, focusing on developing. When reviewing junior leagues or talking with coaches, it is important to ask about the age of rostered players, and their approach to finding the right spot for all players, but especially those who are aging out.
