The ACHA provides over 10,000 players with the opportunity to continue their hockey careers at a variety of competition levels, and has continued to build as a secondary option over NCAA Division III. Check out some of the top headlines from the opening weekend of the 2021-2022 season.
Midnight Mayhem In Kentucky
ACHA Division II
One of the coolest events in the ACHA helped kick off the opening weekend. Kentucky’s Midnight Mayhem has been a must attend for Kentucky Hockey fans since 1980s, and did not disappoint this year to kick off Kentucky’s 2020-2021 season.
The midnight game finished with a commanding 5-1 win for Kentucky over Tennessee, which was followed up by a 9-4 win in game 2. Watch for Kentucky to push for a spot at Natty’s at the Division II level this season.
Maryville Dominates Alabama
ACHA Division I
9 different scorers led Maryville over Alabama in their first game, coming away with a 10-0 win. Saturday’s game was much closer, with Maryville coming back in the third period from a 2-1 deficit to take the game 4-2. Jack Harrison, Bradley Boudreau, Lucas Adams and Kole Mudra each had 2 goals for the weekend, with Harrison leading all players with 5 total points.
IUP Opens Season With Double Up On Temple
ACHA Division I
Indiana University of Pennsylvania came away with 4 points on opening weekend defeating Temple University 5-3 on Friday and 6-2 on Saturday. Jake Casto, former Minnesota Moose forward in the USPHL Premier, finished with 4 goals and 1 assist on the weekend.
D1 Colorado Takes on D2 Metropolitan State University - Denver
ACHA Division I & II
Colorado took on interstate Division II program Metropolitan State in their opening game of the 2021 season, and it did not disappoint. Metro State gave Colorado all they can handle, but Colorado would come away with the overtime win 4-3
Rowan Opens Season With Big Win Over Cincinnati
ACHA Division II
The MACH powerhouse Rowan University took care of business in their season opener Sunday night, cruising to a 11-4 win over Cincinnati. Rowan will be one of the teams to watch in New Jersey, as well as conference rival Rider University, and TCNJ at the Division II level.
Tess Leads Western Michigan Over Central Michigan

Division I Western Michigan defeated interstate Division II program Central Michigan 3-1 on the back of forward Charlie Tess who tallied 2 goals in the game.
